Researches have shown that individuals that are nourished according to the Mediterranean nutritional habits have a 70% probability to experience a second heart attack in comparison to the individuals that are nourished according to the Western ones.
For four years French scientists observed more than 600 individuals, men and women, who had suffered a heart attack. Those of them who followed the Mediterranean Diet (team A) decreased by 50% to 70% the probability of suffering a second heart attack, in comparison to those that followed the Western Diet (team B).
Team A consumed more oleic acid and a-linoleic acid (Fat Acids) than team B. Oils with high percentage in a-linoleic acid are found in high percentages in plants and in certain nuts. Moreover, team A consumed daily 3 grams more of Vegetative Fibres than team B.
It should be noted here that the oleic acid strengthens and cleans the cells of human organism, protects the arteries and works against the accumulation of cholesterol.
